Kits News - 7th March 2025
The Kits had an unforgettable time celebrating World Book Day this week. The children were excited to bring in their favourite books, which we read throughout the week. They discussed key story events, shared their favourite characters, and built confidence by talking about familiar stories with their friends. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop the children’s communication skills and explore a wider range of books.
In Art, the children painted pictures of their favourite book characters. Among them were Goldilocks, Spiderman, The Gruffalo, and Paddington Bear. Their creativity brought these beloved characters to life, adding a personal touch to the celebration.
Thursday’s World Book Day dress-up was a highlight of the week. Both children and teachers embraced the fun, coming into nursery dressed as their favourite literary characters.
Miss Kirsty added to the excitement by preparing themed tuff tray activities in the outdoor learning environment, each linked to a different story. The children loved immersing themselves in the worlds of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, The Gingerbread Man, and The Three Little Pigs. These activities encouraged imagination, communication skills, and storytelling as the children re-enacted scenes and created their own versions of the stories.
The Role Play Area was transformed into a bookshop, where the children filled baskets with books, used money and cards to pay, and spent time quietly reading.
To round off the week, the children visited a real bookshop on Friday. Together, they selected a new book for the nursery and each chose a free World Book Day book to take home.
This week has been a wonderful celebration of books, creativity, and storytelling. The children’s enthusiasm for reading continues to grow, and we look forward to discovering more stories together.
