Squirrels News - 19th January 2024
This week the Squirrels have started the first of three weeks looking at various artists starting with Van Gogh. Without wanting to give to much away we have been using various techniques with acrylic paint to recreate one of his most famous pieces of work. The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about him and his life as well as looking ahead to the other artists we will be covering.
In other areas of learning the children have learnt about the clock face, identifying that it has numbers and hands which are different lengths and then we extended this to learn about o’clock. This all came about from the children taking an interest in our classroom clock and we will continue to build on this learning in future weeks.
As always, we recapped our Weekend News which encourages the children to think about past events and discuss them with their friends including as much detail as they can before taking pen to paper to write and illustrate their weekend activities.
On our Outdoor Learning Day we wrapped up warm and did some exercise and dancing to keep warm as well as to encourage thoughtful movements. It has been a lovely week and it has been wonderful to see the children’s imagination sparked through our artists topic.
