In honour of Sports Day this week our Role Play Area was set up as a gym. The children were extremely excited to lift child friendly weights and practice yoga poses. Many of the children told us they were getting big and strong whilst also discussing their parents' exercise routines. The term 'getting big and strong' was a wonderful opportunity to link back to our person of interest this term, Emily Campbell the British weightlifter.
This week we have also been exploring various textures and experimenting with whether we can change certain textures such as adding water to corn flour then seeing what happens if we add shaving foam. In our Focus Times we have been thinking about the difference between a rectangle and a square and discussing things we are good at as we revisited our book 'I Really Want to Win.'
This week was our final week at Dew Drop Inn. The children had a great time with the senior attendants playing picture lotto before we sang some of our Leavers Concert songs to them. We have had a lovely time getting to know the people at Dew Drop Inn and it has been wonderful to see bonds form between the children and the adults.
The big highlight of the week was Sports Day. Everyone was extremely excited as we gathered on Wandsworth Common to start the races and cheer on our friends. The weather was lovely, the children all tried extremely hard and were rewarded with a medal and a yummy ice lolly. Well done everyone!
