Kits News - 14th June 2024

The Kits had a wonderful week this week and the children have been spending the week talking about their Daddies and preparing for ‘Bring Daddy to School Day’ on Friday, which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was wonderful to have all the Daddies come and visit and the children were very excited to have them at the nursery. They all made some amazing masks together and we look forward to seeing the Kits wear them as part of our Sports Day races next week.

We had a wonderful Music session with Miss Leisa and the children loved dancing and singing with their Daddies. The children were very good at saying good-bye to their Daddies at the end of the morning and the parting gift of biscuits we made the day before certainly helped. We have been talking about our Daddies through the week, discussing their jobs and what we like doing with them. The children have said lots of lovely things about their Daddies including that they read them books, take them to the park and make delicious spaghetti! The children have also been developing their pen control as they have drawn pictures of their Daddies and are starting to include features such as arms and legs.

The children have also been busy in our Role-Play Area which has been set up as a ‘Construction Site’. The children have been dressing up in their hardhats and hi-vis jackets and taking on a number of different DIY jobs. They have been developing their Communication and Language skills as they learn the names of different tools and developing their hand strength as they explore how they work. The children have been using hammers to hammer golf tees into polystyrene blocks and plastic saws to saw against blocks of wood. They have sanded blocks smooth with sand paper and made sure things are straight with the spirit levels.
