Squirrels News - 24th January 2025

After exploring watercolours in Art last week, this week we have started to paint our faces using the watercolours to create portraits in the style of Andy Warhol. The children are having a great time experimenting and mixing colours

In Focus Time we have also explored the medium of clay. At first the children thought the substance they were about to use was play dough so we discussed the differences between the two materials. Everyone enjoyed manipulating the clay to create their desired effect. In another Focus Time we were using loose parts to create pictures, thinking about why we had used each of the items. In Dance we went on a wonderful space adventure with Miss Jade which delighted many of the children as space has been discussed amongst a lot of the children recently. We went walking on the moon, and met some aliens before it was time to fly back home in our spaceship.

This week due to the red weather warning we did not go on our OLD with the risk of high winds potentially bring down trees and branches however we had a wonderful time in class practising our phonics, numeral object correspondence and  we discussed emotions, how we were feeling today and why as well as working out how others maybe feeling in a couple of our emotion picture cards.
