Squirrels News - 30th June 2023

As the end of the school year approaches the children were all very excited to come into class and discover our new Role Play Area which is now set up as a school. The school contains pictures and logos of the schools the children will be going to, as well as pieces of school uniform from the various schools so that the children can try them on in a familiar space, showing their friends and teachers.

There is also the addition of a globe so the children who are flying off to pastures new can show their friends where they will be going. For our Literacy Focus this week we thought about things we will miss and things we have enjoyed at 345 such as missing their teachers and friends and enjoying Show and Tell.

Elsewhere in the classroom the children worked together to build a car track, made vehicles with the construction pieces, wrote their names, participated in free art and developed their fine motor skills using the tweezers to pick up beads. The children became very excited when we talked about what we do when our room or home gets messy. "We clean it," "we wash it." they told me. We notices that Tango’s home was also looking messy to the children thought it would be a good idea to work together to clean Tango's home too. The children loved helping to look after our class pet and have become very interested in the whole process.

For this year’s final Outdoor Learning Day we climbed our favourite tree, raced each other, played tag and met a lovely man who was using a big tractor to cut the grass. It was a lovely way to spend our final Outdoor Learning Day before the children’s final week at 345.
