Squirrels News - 6th October 2023

This week our book was titled My Grandparents Love Me by Claire Freedman. The week started wonderfully as the Squirrels welcomed their grandparents and special people into nursery on Monday in honour of Grandparents Day. Everyone had a great time playing, collaging hearts and signing at the end of the session. It certainly was a magical morning.

In our Literacy Focus Times we reflected on this and wrote about our special people coming in, focusing on our pen grip and controlling our lines. In Cookery we made smoothies and sandwiches in response to the children's interest last week whilst on our Outdoor Learning Day and to go alongside our Cafe Role Play Area. The children loved cutting, spreading and ripping the ingredients but I think I can speak for everyone when I say the most fun was eating our creations at the end!

We ventured over to Wandsworth Common this week on our Outdoor Learning Day. We were on the lookout for a new adventure, and this week our curiosity brought us to an area with trees to weave in and out of and climb as well as fallen leaves and plenty of sticks. We observed the leaves around us and collected different sized leaves before ordering them from smallest to biggest.

It has been another wonderful week and we look forward to the next one.
