Kits News - 17th March 2023
The Kits have had a lovely week and to celebrate Bring Mummy to School Day we chose the topic book The Mummy Book. We have been spending the week talking about our Mummies and making some beautiful cards for Mother’s Day.
The highlight of the week was our wonderful 'Bring Mummy to School Day' on Thursday. It was lovely to have all the Mummies and some Grannies visit our nursery and we hope you enjoyed your morning with us.
The children made some amazing 'Easter Bonnets' with their Mummies and Grannies and we were very impressed at how creative they all were! Afterwards the children played with their Mummies inside the classroom and spent some time in the Outdoor Learning Environment.
Miss Leisa came and sang some songs and we loved singing and dancing with our Mummies to our favourite tunes. It’s hard at the end of ‘Bring Mummy to School Day’ to say goodbye but we made this easier for the children as they gave their Mummies special homemade biscuits as a parting gift.
The children loved making the biscuits the day before and were all keen to help measure and mix the ingredients together to make the sugar free shortbread. They developed their hand strength as they rolled it flat with the rolling pin and they cut out some heart shaped biscuits for their Mummies. They were very proud of what they made and were very excited to show them to their parents the next day.
We have continued with our ‘Mother’s Day’ and home theme throughout the week. Our role-play area has been set up as a ‘Baby Day Care’ and the children have been busy attending to their babies needs by feeding them, changing them and wrapping them up in blankets. They have been very caring to the dolls and we are very proud of the way they looked after them.
We also talked about our home life as we played with the small world people and dolls house, discussing bath and bed time routines and which books we like reading with our Mummies and Daddies.
We hope you all have a lovely Mother’s Day on Sunday and we look forward to seeing you next week.
