Kits News - 5th July 2024

The Kits loved their last week of term and we have been spending the week talking about growth, change and transitions. Our topic book was 10 Seeds by Ruth Brown and we have been learning how plants grow and the children were very excited to plant their own cress seeds. They used pipettes to transfer water onto the cotton wool and then carefully used their pincer grip to pick up and sprinkle the cress seeds on top. They were excited to take them home and we look forward to hearing how quickly they grow!

The children who are moving to the Squirrels next term spent some time with Miss Ruth in the upstairs Squirrels’ classroom and had great fun familiarising themselves with the new environment and playing with the new toys. When they returned to the Kits classroom they all reported having had great fun and were very excited to tell us what they had been doing. We have also been welcoming some of our Mini Oaks as they start to transition to the Kits and everyone is very excited for the term ahead.

We have been discussing change again as we have watched our caterpillars grow bigger and bigger over the past couple of weeks and this week they made cocoons which will eventually hatch into butterflies. The children were fascinated by the developing creatures and we spent time recapping the story of the ‘Hungry Caterpillar’.

The highlight of the week was our end of term party on Friday. The children all dressed up in their party clothes and we danced tour favourite action songs as well as playing musical statues and musical bumps. The children were very excited to have a special party Snack Time and loved the healthy treats we had.

Have a wonderful Summer Kits!
