Kits News - 9th September 2022
Welcome back Kits! It’s been wonderful to have the children back at nursery this week and we’ve loved hearing about their holiday news. We have been welcoming our new members into the Kits and have been so impressed by how quickly they have all settled into the nursery routine.
The children have been busy this week reacquainting themselves with the resources and they have certainly enjoyed getting their hands messy with the shaving foam and paint. These have been great resources to get the Kits exploring textures and to encourage the, to describe how they feel in their hands. In Art have been painting our ‘Helping Hands’ for Tidy Up Time and developing our fine motor skills by free painting on card using brushes and cars.
We had our first Sports session of the term with Coach Pedro and the children listened to and followed his instructions to kick the balls and sort the cones by colour. They also enjoyed being able to run around the large hall and developed their gross motor skills as they negotiated the space around them. We also enjoyed Music with Miss Leisa this week and the children loved dancing and performing the actions to some of their favourite songs.
During our Cookery Focus Time, we made fruit smoothies. This activity was a great opportunity to explore the different fruits with our hands and discuss textures and tastes. The children all developed their hand strength through the activity, as they used the plastic knives to chop the strawberries and bananas and a juicer to squeeze the juice out of the oranges. They were all fascinated to watch me use the blender to make the smoothie and observed the colour of the liquid change as the fruits mixed together. The best part of the activity was definitely tasting it though and the children described it as “Yummy” or said “Mmm” as they drank it.
Well done Kits on your first week back and we look forward to seeing you next week!
