Kits News -March 18th 2022
This week our topic book has been A Bit Lost by Chris Haughton. The book is about a little owl who loses his Mummy and has to describe her to a squirrel who helps to find her. It has been a great platform to explore descriptive language with the children. We also extended this by thinking about what descriptive words we could use to discuss what our Mummies look like.
On Friday we had our annual ‘Bring Mummy to School Day’ and it was lovely to see everyone’s Mummies in the classroom. The Mummies and the children made some amazing Easter Bonnets together using a wide selection of Easter themed decorations and it was wonderful to see the unique creations they made.
After making the bonnets the children enjoyed some Free Play in the classroom with their Mummies and then joined a group Music lesson with Miss Leisa. We have been preparing for ‘Bring Mummy to School Day’ throughout the week and teaching the children about what happens on the day. On Thursday we made some delicious heart biscuits which the children gave to their Mummies as they left nursery to go home, and they were very proud to show them what they had made!
The Kits have continued to enjoy the extra curriculum activities we have at 345 Nursery throughout the week. One of their favourites is undoubtedly Sports with Coach Pedro where they have the opportunity to run around the hall, kicking balls in nets and throwing them through hoops.
This week Coach Pedro took them on an imaginary train journey, where they had to run around the cones as fast as they could ‘in the train’ and then stop at the different coloured stations marked out by cones. When they reached the stations, the children followed Coach Pedro’s instructions to complete several different physical challenges such as stretching out like a star or lying on their backs and cycling their legs around in the air. We were so impressed by how well everyone listened to Coach Pedro’s instructions, and it was a great opportunity to extend the Kits gross motor development.
