Our Topic Book this week was Have you Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud. This book encourages us to think about how we can help others feel happy and how sometimes our actions can take happiness away from people. This was a lovely follow on topic from a few weeks ago when we thought daily about things we are grateful for.
During the week we have been looking at 2D shapes which was inspired by the 2D shapes in our Topic Book and we have been practising our number recognition, formation and counting. As the Role Play area was such a success last week and we had a short week this week we decided to keep it as there was still so much to explore, including adding puppets for us to extend our imaginative play with. The jungle did not disappoint us as it continued to be a big hit with the children.
During Free Flow we have been practising our letter formation, turn taking through various games and constructed with Lego. In the Outdoor Learning Environment the children explored Musical instruments and later in the week the children practised some of their leavers concert songs in Music with Miss Leisa.
In Art the children decorated their own bucket which they filled on Friday during our Outdoor Learning Day. They wrote various words on 2D shapes which made them and others happy such as laugh, love, friends, and cuddles. During our gloriously sunny Outdoor Learning Day we also started practising for our Sports Day races, focusing on the idea that you do not always need to be first. We also focused on running straight and not across the lanes! We look forward to seeing what next week has in store for us.
