Squirrels News - 1st December 2023
This week our Role Play area has been transformed into an Opticians and this has offered a great opportunity to start discussions about why it is so important to have our eyes tested. The children have loved trying on various frame colours and styles, commenting on who in their family they look like who wears glasses.
Around the classroom we have been focusing on sharing with particular activities of interest such as the marble run and the fire station. We have had various practical life activities out over the course of the week such as dressing frames where the children have been able to practise doing up zips and laces. Outside we have been cooking following recipes where we had to look out for and measure quantities such as 2 shells, 6 tablespoons of soil etc.
For our Focus lessons we have been looking at drawing detail out of pictures to develop our story telling and observational skills. In Spanis with Thomas we have been learning about clothing and household pets whilst in Dance we went on a wonderful woodland adventure!
The children have been very excited for December to come around so to celebrate the 1st on Friday we looked for Christmas decorations out on our walk to the common and then warmed up with some lovely sugar free hot chocolate before taking part in an exercise class accompanied by Christmas music to demonstrate we can be out in any weather as long as we know how to keep warm!
