Squirrels News - 1st July 2022
This week we have transformed our Role Play area into a school to prepare the children for their next adventure in Reception. Our ‘school’ has had pieces of school uniform from the children's next schools so they can try the uniform on, discuss it with their friends and share their experiences with their peers and teachers.
We also placed all of the school logos and photos from each school in the role play area to encourage the children to start conversations around where they will be going next. To support the transition to school, we have also been reading a variety of books about starting school and thinking about all the things we can expect from school whilst also reflecting on what we have enjoyed at 345.
In Art we painted pictures of things we have enjoyed at nursery and shared our experiences with our friends. Alongside all of this we have been discussing our feelings around our next steps and we have been excitedly practising for our end of year concert.
In other areas of learning we have been focusing on counting and recognising numbers to 20, whilst also building CVC words during Circle Time. In Sport we have been practicing our tennis skills and in the classroom, we have been very excited to watch our caterpillars grow and observe how they have continued to the next stage in their life cycle and by turning into chrysalis's. We can't wait until they become butterflies!
On our final Outdoor Learning Day of the term, we had a great time playing games and challenging ourselves with tree climbing. We also used the parachute, working as a group to try to keep the ball off the ground and to see how high we could launch it into the air. We then created a den under the parachute where we got cosy and enjoyed singing songs together.
