Squirrels News - 24th November 2023

This week we have been in full Christmas preparation mode rehearsing for our upcoming Nativity everyday this week as well as starting our Christmas cards and presents for our grown ups. We have all been very excited but a few times the children have reminded us, "it's not Christmas yet!" Whilst they are perfectly right and Christmas is not quite here yet, at 345 the festive period always comes round quickly. Due to the start of our Christmas preparations we no longer have a book of the week but continue to read daily with the children. We have particularly enjoyed exploring the other books in the crayon series by Drew Daywalt as the Squirrels loved last week's book so much.

During our Focus times we have placed a big emphasis on positional language ,particularly in between, in the middle and next to which can sometimes prove a little challenging. We have been practising using physical objects, our own bodies and stickers to develop our understanding of these.

In Spanish this week we continued to focus on our bedtime routine as well as learning about household pets. For our Outdoor Learning Day activity we created crowns using natural objects which we stuck onto card using double sided tape. We incorporated technology in this activity by using google lens to identify and learn about the items we were putting on our crowns.

Around the class we have been working hard on developing our fine motor skills through various means such as using tweezers to transfer objects, threading, stretching elastic bands over objects and using pipettes. We have been to space, down to the farm and boarded a pirate ship in the Small World Area and had a wonderful time dressing up with the items we purchased from the Squirrel boutique which was set up in our Role Play Area this week.
