Squirrels News - 30th March 2023
We made the most of our short week before the Easter break starting with a wonderful community walk where we went looking for things related to Ramadan. As we discussed the importance of dates when breaking the fast outside a local shop, a kind shop owner gave all of the children a packet of dates to try. We appreciated his kindness so much that we made him a card for which he preceded to give us a bunch of bananas! What community spirit.
We continued our focus on community this week by writing a birthday card for Satyabhama, a girl we sponsor to attend school in India.
As we built up to the Easter break the children coloured eggs which decorated our classroom and created a special egg which they would find out in the Outdoor Learning Environment later in the week with a special healthy snack attached!
Everyone was also extremely excited for our Easter bonnet parade and whilst it was a little wet the children had a great time taking part in the parade and seeing everyone out to wave at them.
In our Focus Time activity this week we wrote about our weekends, focusing on pen grip and writing left to right as well as getting our letters to sit on the line. They are tired and need a rest! We also looked at our Phonics flash cards with a focus on digraphs and continued to practise our CVC words.
