Squirrels News - 5th May 2023

The children have been very excited for the Coronation this weekend and have fully embraced our Coronation Tea Party in the Role Play Area. The bunting is up, the cake stand is up and the cakes are ready! Everyone is very excited!

Elsewhere in the classroom we have been developing our fine motor skills as we carefully placed jewels on the King’s crown and we got the diggers out to clear and smooth over the cracks in the road. You can’t have any potholes on the route of the royal carriage!

We have also been creating Union Jacks in Art as well as exploring transient art. In Dance we went on a lovely adventure with Miss Jade through a Farmer’s garden as we pretended to be cats, creating an alternative variation of ‘Peter Rabbit.’

This week we enjoyed a visit to Dew Drop Inn where we created wonderful animals out of playdough with the pensioners and had fun trying to guess what everyone had created. To finish off our week we had a Royal Tea Party in class on Thursday before our Outdoor Learning Day where we collected natural objects to create pictures of things we thought of in association with the coronation. This ranged from Union Jack flags to crowns and a castle.
